Aluminum Cam Caps
This powder metal aluminum camshaft bearing cap is one of more than 45 million that MPP has produced since 1992. They replace die cast caps that were machined to achieve the features that are formed in the powder metal caps as part of the net-shape powder metallurgy process. MPP's success with aluminum cam caps is an excellent example of the successful combination of the advantages of powder metallurgy with the exceptional attributes of aluminum. MPP produces cam caps at its MPP Washington Street Division facility in St. Marys, PA. - Eliminates expensive machining required by die cast bearing caps
- Close tolerances (0.04 mm) achieved in as-formed condition
- All intricate oil passageways formed to net shape during pressing
- Caps must withstand cyclic load of the valve train
- Significant cost savings over die cast
